The Wedding Car

Posted on June 27, 2014 at 12:44 pm

Not everyone gets married din their back garden or a nearby church and if you’re planning a wedding that involves a reasonable amount of travel then it’s important to consider the car, especially the car the bride will be getting out of.

A car can make a big statement, and if you turn up in your own vehicle then it can represent a lack of care or attention, and this shouldn’t’ be the case on a wedding day. Ideally the car should match the couple’s personality, especially if they’re going out for a ride after their wedding ceremony.

You may want to take a ride in a muscle car if you’re an American car enthusiast or perhaps even a tractor if you want a wedding with a countryside feel. There is also the opportunity to take a ride in a traditional British car, but whatever you decide on it’s important to make sure it’s clean and in superb running condition, otherwise you could wind up in a lay-by with a vehicle recovery van.

Organising Guest Seating

Posted on June 18, 2014 at 1:24 pm

The bride and groom may be rather nervous on the day of their wedding, while the best man may be anxious about reading out the speech; however, guests are likely to be anxious about where they’re seated and who they’re placed next to.

The seating at a wedding is always a topic for conversation, and you’re always bound to have a few people who are disappointed with their spot. Perhaps they have a restricted view, or they’re seated don a table with an individual that they’re not keen on. Both ways the seating plan should always be thoroughly organised and you have to consider the needs of the guests when you’re creating this plan.

The main thing is to seat people so that they’re comfortable and ready to socialise. Think about who would get well with whom, who should be closer to the front and who should be further away. These are things you should consider and it’s always important for the bride, groom and the wedding planner to take the time to create an ideal seating plan for your guests.

The Growing Importance of Save the Date Cards

Posted on June 10, 2014 at 5:24 pm

Save the date cards are definitely more used today than they were in the past and that’s because they’re crucial in the run up to a wedding. People have very hectic lifestyles today and there is more and more need to make sure they remember your date, and store it.

Some people say that with the use of social media people can see your wedding date on their profile calendar, and while that may be true, Facebook should never be relied upon. It’s also rather important to provide a formal card, rather than merely sending out an even on social media networks or sending out a text message. Some people have even take this idea a step further and created save the date fridge magnets.

This is particularly clever because it means that whenever an individual opens their fridge door they’ll see the date, and eventually remember it. Every couple planning a wedding should get a save the date card out there early and then there are likely to be less problems for guests when the actual initiations are sent out.

The Tie, the Bow-tie or the Cravat

Posted on June 2, 2014 at 2:53 pm

There are many different clothing options for the groom at every wedding, and once the suit has been chosen it’s typically a choice between a tie, a bow-tie or the cravat.

The tie

A typical tie can be a nice addition for a groom, and the main benefits come with the range of designs and styles you can choose between. It must also be said that ties can work well with a wide range of shirts and suits, and there are also a range of materials being used today.

A Bow-tie

These tend to be seen as rather traditional, but they have come back into the spotlight over the last few years. You can choose between clip-on bow-ties, or the traditional type that you must tie yourself, and these look especially nice with formal waste coats or braces.

A Cravat

These are a kind of tie, and they tend to be known as the bushier version. They puff out quite a bit and they’re often used with the long style suit jackets. These do not work well with all suits and they’re often used in wedding where top hats and tail jackets are used.

3 Must Know Wedding Rules

Posted on May 28, 2014 at 12:24 pm

If you’ve not ever been to a wedding and you have one to visit this year, then it could be beneficial to know what you’re letting yourself in for. There are certainly rules you should follow, and you won’t always be mentioned about these so keep them in mind on the day.

The Bride’s Father’s Jacket

One widely accepted rule is that after the ceremony, when it’s time to hear the speeches and eat, guests are not permitted to take off their jackets until the father of the bride has. This is a sign of respect so watch closely.

Ceremony Photography

You are not permitted to take a picture of the bridge and groom signing the wedding certificates. There is usually a ‘fake’ shot set up for guests, but the actual signing of the certificates should not be photographed.

Arrivals

One obvious rule when it comes to attending the ceremony is to show up before the bride arrives. Never enter with the bride unless you’re the father, so if you’re late simply wait until the ceremony is underway and sneak in.

Creating a Wedding Theme

Posted on May 15, 2014 at 5:34 pm

A wedding theme can be an important consideration and it’s the little features that need to be considered if you really want to pull a theme together. You don’t necessarily have to ask your guest to come in themed fancy dress, that’s not what a wedding theme is about. Instead, you may want to focus on a particular type of style, perhaps a countryside style, a summer theme or a festive theme.

A countryside theme could include a barbeque dinner, wooden placemats, tables and chairs and country music entertainment, while a festive theme could combine Christmas colours; red green and gold.

Once you’ve decided on your season and decided on your ceremony location you can begin to pull a particular theme together, and it should ideally be something that you and your partner completely agree on. Many memorable wedding will have some sort of clear theme and it’s definitely worth considering.
