There are many different clothing options for the groom at every wedding, and once the suit has been chosen it’s typically a choice between a tie, a bow-tie or the cravat.
The tie
A typical tie can be a nice addition for a groom, and the main benefits come with the range of designs and styles you can choose between. It must also be said that ties can work well with a wide range of shirts and suits, and there are also a range of materials being used today.
A Bow-tie
These tend to be seen as rather traditional, but they have come back into the spotlight over the last few years. You can choose between clip-on bow-ties, or the traditional type that you must tie yourself, and these look especially nice with formal waste coats or braces.
A Cravat
These are a kind of tie, and they tend to be known as the bushier version. They puff out quite a bit and they’re often used with the long style suit jackets. These do not work well with all suits and they’re often used in wedding where top hats and tail jackets are used.

If you’ve not ever been to a wedding and you have one to visit this year, then it could be beneficial to know what you’re letting yourself in for. There are certainly rules you should follow, and you won’t always be mentioned about these so keep them in mind on the day.
The Bride’s Father’s Jacket
One widely accepted rule is that after the ceremony, when it’s time to hear the speeches and eat, guests are not permitted to take off their jackets until the father of the bride has. This is a sign of respect so watch closely.
Ceremony Photography
You are not permitted to take a picture of the bridge and groom signing the wedding certificates. There is usually a ‘fake’ shot set up for guests, but the actual signing of the certificates should not be photographed.
Arrivals
One obvious rule when it comes to attending the ceremony is to show up before the bride arrives. Never enter with the bride unless you’re the father, so if you’re late simply wait until the ceremony is underway and sneak in.

A wedding theme can be an important consideration and it’s the little features that need to be considered if you really want to pull a theme together. You don’t necessarily have to ask your guest to come in themed fancy dress, that’s not what a wedding theme is about. Instead, you may want to focus on a particular type of style, perhaps a countryside style, a summer theme or a festive theme.
A countryside theme could include a barbeque dinner, wooden placemats, tables and chairs and country music entertainment, while a festive theme could combine Christmas colours; red green and gold.
Once you’ve decided on your season and decided on your ceremony location you can begin to pull a particular theme together, and it should ideally be something that you and your partner completely agree on. Many memorable wedding will have some sort of clear theme and it’s definitely worth considering.
