Getting Inspiration for your Big Day

Posted on May 28, 2015 at 8:28 am

A lot of couples can have a fair amount of difficulty deciding upon what to include for their wedding. You have to decide on so many different things, such as the music you’ll play during the first dance and for the rest of the night, whether or not to have any live entertainment, the decorations during the reception, the ceremony itself and the type of food you’ll serve during the reception, and it can be difficult to come up with ideas that are enjoyable for both of those getting married and all of the guests as well.

One of the best ways for people to come up with ideas for their wedding is to seek inspiration from the weddings of their friends and family. While this is unlikely to be helpful with coming up with original ideas, it can be very helpful with creating an occasion which is enjoyable for everyone.

5 Great Alternatives to a Photographer at a Wedding

Posted on May 24, 2015 at 3:24 pm

Not every couple is interested in opting for the services of a professional photographer, and with many costing in the region of £1000; it’s easy to understand why. There are other alternatives, however, and we’re going to talk you three of the most appropriate solutions.

Disposable Cameras

These cameras are cheap and you can hand one each out for the gusts, and even if there are more than a 100 guests you can still save on money. You then have various different shots of you and guests, and each camera is handed in at the end of the wedding. The only downside is that some guests may take the camera home, or perhaps take horrid images.

Student Photographer

There are many students out there looking for experience and they may actually have a great deal of talent. You won’t have to a pay a student anywhere near the amount of money you would for a professional and in some cases you won’t have to pay anything at all.

Nominating a Guest

There’s always one guest who’s happy to snap away, and if you ask him or her to take more pictures then they usually would, then you could end up with a nice selection of images. Just make sure you choose this guest widely.

Keeping Organised For Your Big Day

Posted on February 17, 2015 at 1:29 pm

The key in ensuring that the run up to your big occasion goes smoothly is organisation. If everything is planned out and you stick to these plans, then the likelihood of an unexpected glitch is slim.

Set clear goals for what you need done for when. Stick to dates otherwise a one day delay can also potentially derail your plans for the days after. We recommend buying an actual organiser compared to jotting everything on your phone. If anything, use both. An organiser is great, as you know the purpose of it is to keep you organised, so you’ll always check it. Whilst the phone can be used to remind you.

We also recommend sharing duties with your future other-half. Make lists and split the duties in half. This way work gets done efficiently and he won’t feel like it’s only your big day!

Planning A Wedding Ceremony Abroad (Part 2)

Posted on February 14, 2015 at 4:57 pm

A continuation on our post on planning a wedding ceremony abroad.

When getting married abroad, there are several documents you need to take with you;

  • Birth certificates
  • Valid 10-year passports
  • Affidavit/statutory declarations
  • Confirming single status
  • Decree Absolute (if you are divorced)
  • Previous spouse’s death certificate (if you are widowed)
  • Parental consent if you are under 18 (21 in some countries)

You also need to check the time period you need to be in said country before you can marry, as this may vary. Some countries also require you to have a visa, so please do your homework beforehand. The requirement for legal documents are subject to change, so always check if anything has changed.

Planning A Wedding Ceremony Abroad (Part 1)

Posted on January 14, 2015 at 4:57 pm

Having a wedding abroad is becoming a more popular idea, with prices sometimes costing nearly three times less than the average price in the UK – £20,000. The added bonus of having a wedding abroad, is that you can hold it somewhere where the weather is much likelier to be sunny. Of course there is the possibility of not being able to oversee arrangements until the week before the actual ceremony, but you can hire an events co-ordinator (make sure to ask for references).

We do not recommend deciding to get married in an area, where you have never been. Make sure to visit the area, the venue etc. with your partner. If possible visit food suppliers, make-up artist’s too.

Tips On Finding A Wedding Venue Within A Budget

Posted on December 18, 2014 at 10:54 am

We understand the stress of finding a venue to hold your wedding, especially with costs rising day after day. So we’ve decided to write a post on what we think are good tips, when looking for a venue for that special day.

If you’re looking to save costs on your big day, we definitely recommend not to get married on a Saturday. It’s the most popular date to hold a wedding, so choose a Friday or a Sunday as venues are likely to charge less on days they’re less busy.

Also consider holding the wedding ceremony and reception in the same venue. Why pay for two separate locations, when you can save money by having it all in the same venue?

Wedding Flower Mistakes To Avoid

Posted on November 21, 2014 at 11:17 am

When it comes to weddings, there are so many things to think about. This could and does lead to a confusion in priorities. Here are the main mistakes florists have suggested bride-to-be’s make when it comes to their big day.

The main mistake soon-to-be brides make is booking the florist last and having to spend less than required for desired look. We recommend you make a list of all the things you need for the big day and enquire for prices on everything that you’ll need to purchase. That way you can budget for the goods and avoid any nasty surprises. Also knowing what you want and describing it to your chosen florist are two different things. Bring plenty of photos which can visually convey what you’re looking and not looking for.

Choosing Baptism Clothes

Posted on November 17, 2014 at 10:21 am

The christening ceremony of a child is a very important occasion. The gown selected for the occasion is very significant. There is a wide range of baptism clothes one can select from. To a mother, the clothes are perhaps second in importance to her wedding gown. Therefore, it is important to buy clothes that will last a long as a reminder of the important event. Although there are many options in the market, it is hard to settle on one that suits your circumstances well.

Style

When making a choice, the following considerations should be made. You should start by being clear on the style to go for. There are modern and traditional styles. Parents may decide to clothe their baby with something similar to what they wore on their own christening or go for something modern. Whatever style is selected, the most important thing to consider is attractiveness of your child. The gown should also be comfortable to the child. (more…)
