A continuation on our post on planning a wedding ceremony abroad.
When getting married abroad, there are several documents you need to take with you;
- Birth certificates
- Valid 10-year passports
- Affidavit/statutory declarations
- Confirming single status
- Decree Absolute (if you are divorced)
- Previous spouse’s death certificate (if you are widowed)
- Parental consent if you are under 18 (21 in some countries)
You also need to check the time period you need to be in said country before you can marry, as this may vary. Some countries also require you to have a visa, so please do your homework beforehand. The requirement for legal documents are subject to change, so always check if anything has changed.
