When planning your dream wedding one of the first things you always need to consider is your budget. Having a budget is extremely important for any occasion but especially your wedding. Deciding what your budget should be is the challenging part. No one wants to spend all of their savings in one go, so how can you decide upon a budget for your wedding?
When I decided upon a budget for my wedding we took into consideration some of the main factors. These beings guests, location, clothing, food, and transport. These are the main aspects that you need to have a budget set for as they will take up the most money.
Firstly consider your guests. How many people do you want at your wedding? This will help you to choose a venue that will fit everyone at a suitable price. It will also help you to decide upon food and what will be the best value for money. You can also ask them to pay a small fee to help with the costs if this is difficult for you.
Once you have the number of guests sorted you will be able to think of your entire budget. Look at what savings you have and how much of this you and your partner will be happy to spend on a wedding. When you know this, you can spread this across all the designated areas to ensure you stay well within your budget when planning.
The lowest part of your budget will normally be your transport and your own dresses and suits. This is because they are of a lower value than say the event location.
Knowing and sticking to a budget is key. We will always recommend that you have an entire budget of between £5,000 to £10,000 to cover all of the costs of your wedding.
