Just a few ideas for winter themed parties

Posted on December 16, 2017 at 5:20 pm

It may not be the coldest December the UK’s ever had, and even though many parts of the country have not seen any snow this year, but there’s still a festive feel in the air. Even without the snowy weather, if you’re having a party during the inter months, whether that be for an anniversary, birthday, work do or wedding, you can create a winter theme that’s remembered for many years to come. To get the ball rolling, here are just a few ideas for a winter themed party:

Winter Wonderland

Your classic winter wonderland party requires a lot of effort and attention to detail, but when done correctly, it’s one of the best party themes. You can have Christmas trees, fake snow, icicles, twinkle lights, presents, Santa decorations, fluffy white rugs, blue lights, Christmas songs and festive food! The great thing about winter wonderland theme is that it can also be adapted to your event, so let’s say you’re planning an awards ceremony in Cambridge, you can keep the environment branded with just the right amount of festive touches. You can also hold this sort of party in any venue. Let’s say you’re looking for complete event hire Milton Keynes, you may choose a marquee rather than a village hall or historic venue, and in this case you can really light up the marquee with blue white, giving it a cool and Christmassy feel.

Winter Murder Mystery

As uplifting as the winter months can be, there’s actually no better atmosphere for a murder mystery. With the murder set in a wintery forest or the cobble streets of a quaint village in icy conditions, you can create a really powerful scene that grabs your guest’s attention and gets them involved. The nights are cold and long in the UK during the winter months and you will really want this to come through in your murder mystery. You may need a little bit of set-building to get the right atmosphere, and though it will take extra work, it will be a murder mystery that all of your guests remember for many years to come.

Christmas Movie

Why not take inspiration from a fab Christmas movie such as Elf, The Santa Clause, The Grinch, Home Alone or Jingle All The Way. Whatever your favourite Christmas film is, show it some love and recreate the type of atmosphere for your event. For The Grinch, you could even have a best lookalike competition, so whoever looks the most like the Grinch on the night wins. You will then have 20 or perhaps even 100 Grinch lookalikes and if that doesn’t make for a fantastic group photo, we’re not sure what will!

The winter months are worth celebrating and you can use the best bits of winter to create a festive theme that lives long in the memory. Just make sure you do a little bit of research first so you know exactly how you want it to look when you’re guests arrive, and make sure whatever theme you choose, to stick with it. That means careful consideration needs to be paid to music, entertainment, food and drinks.

Organising the perfect wedding reception

Posted on October 21, 2017 at 1:02 pm

Planning your wedding day is an exciting task, from the ceremony to the meal, then on to the reception. Your wedding reception is the time when you and your partner can finally relax and enjoy the evening together with your friends and family.

Wedding receptions are the time of the day when you have the most guests at your wedding, as you have your daytime guests and evening guests to cater for. One important part of a wedding reception is getting people on the dance floor, so choosing the right music is a good start.

Wedding receptions could start with a band to get the night started, leading onto a DJ for the later part of the evening. You may even want to include competitions to get your guests up and involved in the evening.

Another important part of a reception is of course the food, a buffet with a good variety of options is just what is needed after a couple of glasses of bubbly.

Wedding reception in your garden

Posted on September 23, 2017 at 10:35 am

It is becoming more common that couples are choosing to host their wedding reception in their parent’s garden. For those lucky enough to have parents with a large garden or field, adding a marquee to host their wedding reception seems the perfect option. Hiring a marquee and having your reception can save you a lot of money compared to hiring a hall or reception venue.

With the additional option of adding glamping tents too, you can create the perfect accommodation for those guests travelling a long distance, and for those wanting to camp out after the wedding. The best part of hosting your wedding reception on your own private land is that there is no curfew, meaning you can party the night away.

Glamping tents and a marquee look great at weddings with an English country theme, simple add in some old hay bales and a tractor trailer for extra seating, and you have created a great scene for your wedding reception.

Guest book; The perfect way to remember your wedding day

Posted on August 29, 2017 at 6:25 am

When it comes to planning your wedding, the guest book really is a small detail, however it can be a very valuable item when it comes to looking back on your big day in many years to come.

Guests books traditionally are a leather bound book, left on a table for guests to write in as they please. Many modern weddings have led to creative adaptations to the traditional guest book, one example is a note card that can be tied onto a memory tree, making a beautiful feature to the wedding reception whilst receiving wonderful words and memories from the guests.

Any written words can be used to put together a scrapbook of your special day, and some couples also add a disposable camera onto each table which can also be added to the wedding scrapbook.

Your wedding day should be a day to remember and a guest book provides you with a detailed story of your day, and can be great to show your children and even your grandchildren.

Posted on April 18, 2017 at 11:24 am

When it comes to essential bridal accessories, nothing completes a beautiful flowing gown quite like a perfectly matching veil. One of the most traditional and age-old elements of the marriage ceremony, veils have come a long way concerning style. With such a wide selection available of a rather specialised item, it’s not easy to determine which veil is best for you.

Length

Length is so important as it can mean the difference between a more modern look opposed to something more classical, and this is also important in its relation to your dress.

Shape

Veils are available in many shapes, from basic squares and ovals to teardrops and capes. Most blushers are traditionally square-shaped while short and middle length veils have rounded edges, forming a rough oval. The best way to determine which shape fits your gown is by trying some them on with your wedding dress.

Color

Choosing a theme for your wedding.

Posted on March 24, 2017 at 3:33 pm

The theme you choose for your wedding event will determine how your planning goes. From the flowers to the reception music, you must be able to see a reflection of your wedding theme. Though there are many ways to theme your wedding, none is as important as the season. It’s necessary for you to plan and organise the event according to the time of the year.

There are many reasons to do so. By blending your décor with the season, you bring harmony to the event and make it look more pleasant. Winter weddings traditionally go with silver and white colours. Again, many people would like the dress to suit the seasons. They will, therefore, like to wear light clothing to such events and would like to see the couple similarly dressed. Some objects and accessories can only be available during the seasons. For example, if you want to have a beach wedding, you will need a sunny, fair day which is typical of summer.
Of all the wedding themes available, summer just seems to be the most common, this is because summer favours outdoor events. There is higher chance sun and less dull days. It is time you can suitably compose a garden or wide open wedding. Summer weddings may be exceptionally warm so you should consider places with cooling ventilation to ensure the comfort of your guests.
Aside from summer, winter becomes the next most popular wedding theme. Though winter appears to be quite restrictive, it is also the season of Christmas when people are already celebrating. Winter venues are cheaper to book, but you may need to find places that are comfortable regarding heating.
The wedding theme you chose will depend on the season. This way you can leverage on the times and get complementary products. It also helps you to blend your decoration with the surroundings so it does not look out of place.
